Help with speaker buzz

Noob here, dealing with a badly distorted speaker, signal from my adafruit amp. I believe I can fix it with a resistor & a capacitor, where should I put them in the circuit?

Thanks!!

Hi @Martina285491

What you would be looking at doing is called a Passive High Pass Filter, I’ve attached a photo below of how you would implement it in your project. You may also need some other details to pick the correct cap and resistor to use, this guide is an excellent resource for that.

Hey @Martina285491

Not a problem at all, hopefully this fixes your issue

I’ve ordered (hopefully :crossed_fingers:) the right components, there’s a volume knob in the circuit aswell. Does it matter where i solder these in relation to the volume control?

Hey @Martina285491,

The volume knob will be a potentiometer, which is a variable resistor. If you place it after the filter, it will be in parallel with the static resistor you have as part of the RC highpass, and it will change the cut-off frequency of the filter.

I would place it before the filter. This should eliminate that problem entirely.
