How can i retrieve :edid" information rpi4 ubuntu 19.10 server mate desktop

can any body help me with this…the rpi forum is very limited with using Ubuntu on their machines so it would seem…rpi-4 and Ubuntu is still out of the box…i have tried there code but it does not work…

i am trying to fix 1080p over scan on my t.v screen…i think it`s native 720p and it up-scales to 1080p…

any help would be appreciated …thank`s…

If the monitor is adding a border, use the menu on the monitor to turn of overscan.

“xrandr” with no parameters should display the available resolutions of the monitor, or you could also try “hwinfo --framebuffer”
