Is there direct access to the USB ports on the Raspberry Pi through the Pimoroni Picade cabinet? I am interesting in also purchasing the USB SNES and USB NES controllers to use with the package.

Hey Chris, thanks for the inquiry. The usb ports on the Pi are definitely accessible through the back panel of the Picade.

For a good idea of what that looks like, when looking at the product image with all the parts of the Picade kit, center at the top you will see the back panel. The USB cables for extra controllers can easily be plugged in and used via the holes in this panel.

Brilliant, thank you! Would you happen to know whether the controllers would work with the SNES/NES emulators out of the box or whether any additional work would need to be done to make them work?

They sure do, we have a Picade in our warehouse setup with a couple of SNES controllers for Mario Kart filled break times… You will just need to plug them in and do a quick configuration of your controller in the RetroPi home screen. This process is the same for almost any USB controller you can buy too.

Too good, thanks again!

No worries, we hope you enjoy your Picade as much as we do!
