Looking for the following Stepper Motor p/n PKP266U20AA Oriental motor
or a equivalent.
Hey Rob,
Welcome to the forums!
Core electronics doesn’t have any 24v stepper motors available. Can you give us a bit more info as to what its being used for in your project so that we can help you figure out a solution?
Looks like I found the wrong datasheet! Here’s the one for the part number you mentioned:
The key specs you are looking for are as follows:
- Make sure your replacement has sufficient holding torque, so the machine behaves the same and doesn’t skip steps
- Make sure the step angle is the same. Generally most steppers come in 1.8 degree steps (200/rev), but some come in 0.9 degree steps (400/rev), so make sure you get the former, otherwise your machine will think it’s moved twice as far as it actually has
- Is your motor connected in a bipolar or unipolar fashion? Generally you can tell from the number of connections to the motor, 6 is usually unipolar, 4 bipolar.
- If a recent stepper motor driver IC (sometimes called a “chopper” is being used, it probably works on a current limit, so make sure your replacement motor has a similar or larger current capacity to avoid overheating
- If your control circuitry is just a H-Bridge passing along a voltage with no current limit, you’ll have to abide by the voltage ratings too and pick equal or higher.
Take a look at our category for steppers, and particularly at NEMA 34 motors:
Cheers,
Blayden
