Is the Pimoroni Pi 5 NVMe base ‘compatible’ with the Pibow coupe 5 Ninja Case?

Alternatively, could it be used with the Waveshare Aluminium Alloy Fan Case?

The screw holes would appear to be the same (from the Pi) but can the connector cable feed through?

Cheers, Dave

Hi David,

This NVMe Base uses the standard screw holes in the Pi board to secure itself and both of the cases you mentioned also have a base plate that uses these holes.

It should be possible to replace the existing base plate on both cases with this NVMe base and have everything work perfectly although you would be losing the protection provided by a solid underside to your Pi.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Sam,
This provides some alternatives to that Argon 40 Neo, that’s not available, and perhaps some future
flexibility.

Is there a suitable box for the NVMe Base (PIM699) + Pi5 + heatsink (WS-26415) or active cooler (CE09791)?

Hi John.

There currently isn’t much in the way of cases designed for the NVMe Base. It does come with the Rubber feet for it to be able to be sat on a desk though.

In terms of option that could work with the base, this aluminium case has a cutout that could be big enough to pass the PCIe connector through to the base. You would need a longer PCIe flex cable to be able to connect the base and the PI together as the included one is only just long enough for the included standoffs.

Otherwise you may need to loon into finding/design your own 3D printable case for the Pi 5 with the base.

Hi there. I have a Pi5 which I purchased from yourselves and I looking to add an SSD and case with cooling (will run Home Assistant and Falcon Player for LED lights), and also need Sound blaster (for connection to FM transmitter) What do you recommend?

Hi @Andrew176794,

For a case that that can add cooling and NVMe I’d recommend either the Argon One V3 with the NVMe Base or the Argon Neo V5 with the NVMe Base.

The Argon One V3 might be the better case as you are able to get the BLSTR DAC that integrates into the case to give you an audio out.
