Read moreHi,
Will this case fit a RPI5 Model B with the Pimoroni Base Duo mounted as a hat?
Is there enough room with the supplied fan? Or can the two boards fit if the fan was excluded and the RPI5 genuine fan used instead?
Thanks
The Raspberry Pi active fan with the heatsink built in is the best option for cooling the Pi5 in my opinion.
The Pimoroni Base Duo is designed to fit below the Pi; looking at the case measurements the ports would not align with the holes anymore. You would have find a way of mounting it above the Pi.
I used a Geelworm NVME board that mounts above but has only one socket. Pi has active cooler. It fits in a Geelworm case designed for it. Very similar to that above. In my opinion the Geekworm products are better and they have very good documentation.
Regards
Jim
I think these were what I bought, all been working nicely and boots off NVME.
Hi Kyle
If you are a bit short of space you could always fit the fan outside the case. No real reason but neatness to mount it inside.
Cheers Bob
Hi Kyle,
Welcome to the forum!
Currently there’s no off the shelf cases that would support the Pimoroni NVMe bases, but if you have access to a 3D printer you could look at printing Raspberry Pi 5 + Pimoroni NVME Base Case.
If you’re in the market to get yourself an add-on so you can use an SSD with a Pi5 I would recommend looking at the official Raspberry Pi 5 M.2 HAT, it will work with the official active cooler and also the official Pi5 cases.
Hello,
Do you know if this case will fit the Raspberry Pi 5 with the AI HAT 2?
Thanks
Dean
Hey @Dean312170 , welcome to the forums!
The cooling fan on the lid of this case seems to be the only part that would cause any fitment issues with your setup, as this will likely interfere with the AI HAT.
You should be able to unscrew this fan from the lid of the case and use something else, like the Raspberry Pi 5 Active Cooler to keep your setup cool!
Hi Samuel
Like I said Cec 2994
What is wrong with doing that ?? Lot less hassle.
Cheers Bob
This is probably the best option, with only the parts included with the case.
Thanks for the reminder Bob, bit of a dumb one for me to overlook!
Thanks Sam and Rob, no dramas mounting the fan on the outside
Hi Dean
I don’t even think it matters if it blows or sucks as long as it moves the hot air out.
Cheers Bob
Resorted to 3D printing a case for 2 Raspberry Pi 5 I have.
Different case for each, different boards in each.
No one made a case that would fit the POE, NVME & Official fan/heatsink boards nicely.
Cheers
