Hi, I am looking for an alternative to Polymer Lithium Ion Battery (LiPo) 3.7V 1100mAh which currently has a month wait to be back in stock. I am repairing a promotional display that has a 3.7v DC motor with battery backup, and planning to use the Adafruit Universal USB / DC / Solar Lithium Ion/Polymer charger - bq24074 to simultaneously provide mains power to the motor, and also charge the battery then manage the power so that it does not cycle the battery and gives me the option to run the display from battery if mains power is not available.
There appears to be a wider range of the similar LiPo batteries with 3-pin interface, where the extra pin is for measuring battery temperature and could be ignored.
Thankyou for your recommendation Donald. I checked out the products. I am not sure about the fragile wire detail mentioned in the product descriptions. If anyone has used these I’d be curious to know how solid the wiring really is. I am weighing up my options.
The fragile wire warning is honestly a bit of overkill.
We put it up because customers kept trying to remove the battery from connectors by tugging on the wires. Since these are not wrapped together in any kind of tubing, doing so will lead to you either needing to recrimp the JST or resolder the battery.
If you’re gentle when handling the batteries, however, you can completely disregard that instruction.
Hi Jane. thanks for a real world perspective on the Lipo wiring. Unfortunately I may still be limited as I need an approx 1000 -1100 size preferably with 2wire jst plug to fit into existing housing. I have 55x45x15mm space in the battery compartment. If I step up in size the battery is too big or the other options is to get the three wire jst plug version approx 1000 size, but not use the third wire and change the plug or similar work around. Thanks for the feedback. I will mull it over and find some solution. Cheers Paul
