As a professional performer, I really value a good utility prop. One that can perform many functions to support my magic show.
My first attempt at this was built in Tiny Circuits “Tiny Sabre” board (AT Tiny 88) and I has many shouting matches with the code trying to fit in all the functionality I wanted. (Ended with 2 spare bytes of memory!)
So it was luxury to start Mark II on the RP2404 platform (Adafruit Prop Maker board)
This wand has a speaker, 5 way switch for control and an array of 4 x 23 LEDs as well as a nice beefy 800mAh LiPo so it won’t run out during several hours of performing.
This wand will light up, or catch fire in your favourite colour, respond when the crowd gets all excited, tell you what card you are thinking of, or if you are telling the truth, and has hidden blaster, lightsaber and sonic screwdriver functions.
It’s been a real journey putting this together and 3D Printing the case, but it’s very satisfying holding something that you know never existed before. This must be what being an inventor feels like!
