Rasberry pi 5 issues

Hi and thanks for reading this
I have purchased a RP 5 and attempting to use it.
I have tried MANY times to use RP connect with no success.
I purchased a mini USB charger 3A ($16) a monitor 10.1" ($80) and mini HDMI cable ($15) to try to access the PI.
I used the imager to load the boot manager and then used the imager to load 64 bit desk top with and also without RP connect.
when I boot I do see the desktop on the monitor and text loading in the red area below the desktop. Hard to read but looks like it is loading several things.
Suddenly the screen goes blank and the LED on the PI turns red and NOTHING
What am I doing wrong and / or is there a defect?

Hey there, @Kim284398, and welcome to the forum.

Most likely this:

Is the culprit.

The Raspberry Pi 5 is power hungry and doubly so at boot or when using peripheries. This is usually more of a problem with USB boots than SD Boots, but it’s not unheard of. A 5A PSU is required for a consistent Pi 5 experience.

However, would you be able to upload a shot of the boot screen just so we can see if anything else is going wrong?

Thank you for the input..
I just cheated and used the battery back and all went well for the robot >10a

That’d work.

Glad you got it solved.
