Raspberry Pi PoE+ HAT (CE07841)

Not so far. All the ones I’ve found have just the 2 wires.

I do wonder if Raspberry Pi 4 Case Fan | Buy in Australia | CE07370 | Core Electronics is it? The connectors look a little different although I haven’t looked at the pi in a while but it may work.

Hi @Jared

I’ve measured the fan from that case insert from our shelf stock and it would be the correct dimensions, the plugs though are dupont connectors. If you’re wanting to replace the fan on the PoE hat you could look at splicing the connector from the old fan onto that fan and it will fit on the hat.

Thanks Dan, would wire strippers and pliers be enough for that or would I need a particular crimping tool (if so, do you know if CE carries whatever else I need?)

Hi @Jared

You should be able to strip the wire back then solder the wires together (don’t forget to add heat shrink before you solder)

Thanks @Dan, I’m a network kinda nerd and don’t have soldering kit. I make my own cables but after that I need plug and play.

Do you know what the connector type is on the POE hat version to help me find one?

Hey @Jared,

I wasn’t able to locate any official documentation that states what that connector is. Measuring one on hand the pin-to-pin pitch seems to be 1.25mm so I would guess that it’s a “molex picoblade” connector which is a fairly common one to see on small fans like this.

Thanks Samuel,

For those reading this later, I did try 4 different fans from ali/ebay/etc that all claimed to be a replacement and had photos with the correct plug but all came with incorrect plugs.

I’m not set up for soldering so the only way I found to fix this was to replace the whole POE+ hat itself and now it’s back to it’s usual quieter self.

I guess there isn’t much call for replacement fans but you would have thought something so simple wouldn’t be so hard to find!
