Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 - remote mounting

Is it possible to use the Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 without mounting the pi on the rear?

I’m trying to build a Spotify station to sit on a table in my living room. I’m buying a Pi 5, a Raspberry Pi DAC Pro, and a KKSB Case for Raspberry Pi 5 and Raspberry Pi DAC+ and DAC Pro Sound Cards, so I don’t want to mount the Pi directly behind the screen as seems to be the norm for that display. My idea was that the pi would be tucked away underneath the table, connected to the speakers, and I could just have the display visible.

It seems to me that my other option would be to buy something like this no-brand 11.6" touchscreen monitor or this 14" ZSUS, but I’m not sure on compatibility for either of those.

Hi @Benw04,

Welcome to the forum! Of course you don’t need to mount the Pi to the back of this display, it is just a bit easier if you do. You will need to source a longer display and power cable if you choose not to mount the Pi to the display. That’s all you’ll need to change however.

There isn’t too much info on these monitors but I think that they’re using Display Port to incorporate their touchscreens. Raspberry Pi’s don’t support Display Port so you will run into compatibility issues if that’s the case.
