Hi Everyone,
It’s been over 6 months that I was asking for advice on how to get my Night’n Day Globe running again.
I just wanted to let you know that it hasn’t been used as a “doorstop”.
It’s been working continuously since it restarted with the exception of the 1 day every 3 months where I switch it off to rest the motor and readjust the calendar.
Cheers

Hi Peter
That’s great news. Thanks for the feedback. Good to be advised when efforts to solve a problem achieve positive results. Unfortunately this does not happen very often so thanks again.

Hey Pete,
Awesome work, it looks really nice. I’m curious how much it drifts though?

Hi Liam
To be honest, the main reason I switched it off was more of a safety precaution to give the motor a rest for a day or so with the aim of prolonging it’s lifespan, as per the advice given earlier on in the discussions.
The adjustment wasn’t really noticeable visually within the 3 months period. Maybe if I was to leave it on continuously longer than 6 months the differential would have been more evident and probably required the adjustment.
Cheers

Hi Oliver
New to group. Looks good.
Are you able to advise how/where you can do the simulation of gears rotating etc. Would like to do the 28byj-48 with 16:1 ratio.
Thanks

Hi Everyone
Iam confused (I am a Kiwi! 79 yo and getting older!)
Great discussion on this thread. I am trying to work out the gears and number of teeth. As per the actual single piece. That is the big gear and the one on the back the smaller gear. Need this info so I can find suitable gears.
If you call the:
pinion drive gear from motor #1
#2 is 24 and 8? etc etc.
Then I can work out which gear drives which to get a ratio overall.
Using a 12 volt 28byj-48 with 64:1 at the moment but do need a 16:1 ratio. Where are suitable gears obtainable for this. Very difficult to find online the correct gears, need your advice.
Thankyou
Charles Harris
Hi Charles
If you have 64:1 at the moment it might be easier to get another 4:1 reduction to achieve an overall 16:1.
Cheers Bob
Hi Charles
Please disregard that last post. Had a brain snap. I am an Aus 87 yo and getting MUCH older. I was working the wrong way around. My idea would finish up 256:1.
Cheers and forgive me Bob
