Ada3851. Can we power these lights without the need for a micro computer… Just straight off a 5volt power supply?.

Welcome to the forum!
You will need some kind of microcontroller to use those LEDs as they are addressable LEDs (Neopixels). I’d suggest taking a look at our tutorials on using addressable LEDs
If you want colour changing LEDs you will need a microcontroller - even if that’s a pre-built LED controller like this one:
Otherwise we’ve got some short strips of single colour LEDs:
And you could also look into using EL wire - Adafruit have a good tutorial here: https://learn.adafruit.com/el-wire
