Adafruit PiRTC DS3231 installation with FLIRC case

Hi,
I’m new to the whole Raspberry Pi world and am using a Pi4 as a remote control for my Astro gear.
I Purchased a Pi 4, a FLIRC case and an adafruit PiRTC DS3231 but when I go to install the RTC in the normal position the case won’t close as the mounting post hits the RTC.
Just trying to work out of there is an alternate installation position on the GPIO or whether I need a different case?

Hi Rod,

Other than using either a breakout or a ribbon cable to pull the GPIO from the case so that it can be used separately, we may be able to use some standoffs for the case or GPIO of some description to create some space. Could you please send through a picture of your rig, I’ll try to determine what’s most appropriate for you.

Thanks Bryce,
Here it is at the moment with the RTC installed. You can see in the second shot the case mounting post hots the RTC.
I guess I could cut that post off and only use 3 mounting screws but was trying to avoid that.
The argon neo case seems to overcome that because it allows access to the GPIO.

Thanks
Rod

Hi Rod,

I’ve switched the Flirc out for the Neo and it houses this RTC board perfectly in my tests. If you can please send through an email to support@coreelectronics.com.au I can organize to switch out the boards for you. Have a great day!

Thanks Bryce,
Good to know the neo works.

I did not get the FLIRC case through you guys as it was not in stock at the time so I’ll just order a neo case online.
Thanks for all the help.

Regards
Rod
