Installing Rear and Front Cameras in Stock OEM Android Unit. Hlep!

Dual Cams2

Hello friends, I want to install basic simple 2 cameras:

Rear camera and Front camera.
Both are with static guidelines with no LEDs.
Front camera has 1 extra wire to enable the MIRROR image feature.
The rests are same.

The rear camera will be activated only when the REVERSE light is ON.
And, the front camera will be activated only when the Switch button is pressed.
Only ONE camera is to be activated at one time i.e. either the rear or the front.

There is ONE RCA FEMALE Green PORT at the back of the Android Unit.
So, I will employ a common RCA male connector joined to the pin 30 of the DPDT 12V relay as attached photo. I have drawn a proposed diagram which I presumed will serve these two features.

And, one more confusion, is the YELLOW RCA connector 1 wire or 2 wires? If 2 wires, what is the purpose of the second wire?
I assume that the YELLOW connector of the camera is only 1 wire which transfers the video signal/information to the Android unit.
Red RCA connector has 2 wires : One is +12V input and another is Ground wire.
Yellow RCA connector has 1 wire (assuming).
So, total 3 wires.

So, eagerly waiting for any correction/suggestions on my diagram…
And, waiting the answer to the confusion on the YELLOW RCA connector.

Thanks.

Hey @TONSING278988, welcome to the forums!

Would you be able to share a link or some identifying information about the camera you are using? The details of the head unit would also be helpful in determining if your wiring is correct for this.

Yes thanks for the reply.
Both the rear and front cameras are supported by the Android Unit.
My main question is…
whether the proposed diagram is feasible or not?
Please kindly go through the conditions again.

Hi Tonsing
The yellow connector should be a single core (wire) with screen (outer braid or similar). TV convention says the yellow connector is video and seeing the other connector has 2 wires for + and - this looks like being the convention here.

A bit more detail on your circuit would help.
Which camera is the front and which is the back.
Are these 2 relays or is the red one a switch and which condition is it shown in.
Where is the push button switch.
I would assume the relay is shown in the non energised condition. True or false?
Cheers Bob

Cam1 is rear and cam2 is front.
All relays are in off condition.
The switch which is in the open state is not shown in the diagram.

Also, consider these two RCAs…for the time being.

Given that the 2 photos are the RCA adapters with 4 wires each, and each ends has a yellow connector with 2 wires each.

There are only 2 wires at the yellow connectors of both the RCA cables. Obviously, inner ring is video signal and outer ring is ground.

Whereas, in the 1st photo, there are 4 wires at the GREEN connector.
One is the input video signal.
One is ground.
And, what are the 2 remaining wires used for???

And, what’s inside the black box junction???

On the contrary, the 2nd photo, there’s no Black box junction. 3 wires coming out.

And what about the 4th wire?

I really need englighten on these 4 wires and it’s really confusing me alot.

As soon as I’m cleared on these confusion, I may have to redraw the diagram. So, eagerly awaiting for your inputs.

Please  help.

Hi Tonsing
Do you have any instructions that came with the camera.
At this stage you are the only one that knows anything about the cameras.
For instance where does that green connector plug into…

Correct. The ground will be a screen outside the inner video wire (co-ax).

No idea at this stage.
Cheers Bob

PS: As far as your diagram goes, yes that should work OK.

I know some head units allow you to connect the Positive of the reverse light to the head unit so it can automatically turn on a reversing camera when you put the car into reverse.
That could be it but without looking into the documentation of your specific kit it can be hard to know for certain.

thanks every one for the response.
Please kindly watch this.
I’m referring to the same vehicle where the said RCA adapter is used.

Hi Tonsing
Well, that is not much use. The top video shows you have a very nice yellow connector and you can plug it into another very nice yellow connector.

And that is about it.

The second one might (???) be of some use if you could speak Swahili or whatever language is used but otherwise nearly as useless as the top video.
