Loading a UF2 file to a Seeed XIAO nRF52840

I recently purchased a Seed Studios XIAO nRF52840 from Core. I do not want to go down a new educational rabbit hole aka Arduino and so just want to stick with MicroPython.

Dragging the .uf2 file onto the Xiao appears to work initially but then the Xiao drops offline. Reconnecting I see the file did not transfer.

Clues and or enlightenment most welcome.

Hey there, @Mark285907,

That is not necessarily unusual, once the UF2 has been flashed the device should no longer enumerate as a flash drive but as a serial port. Do any new devices appear under your COM ports.

Otherwise, if no serial port appears, can you please put it back into bootloader mode and paste the contents of INFO_UF2.TXT here, along with the exact UF2 filename you flashed. That should help confirm whether the bootloader is identifying the board correctly.

Thanks Jane.

Yes, com port 7 is up.

Here’s what I see in Thonny.

Ok, @Mark285907,

It seems that the device has been flashed with MicroPython.

The localtime and RTC messages are Thonny attempting to read and synchronise a clock interface that this firmware doesn’t expose; they can be ignored.

Or was there a newer MicroPython UF2 that you were trying to flash?

It seems so. I’ll get some code in there and see what happens.

Thanks.
