Looking for a switch

The button also loosely attaches to the top of the ‘travelling’ part of the switch which judging by the dimensions of the ‘cap’ of the new switch, it doesn’t look like it would fit inside the button like the current switch does:

I guess if you really wanted you could file down the slot on the back side of the power button and file down the ‘cap’ of the new switch so it’s thinner and fits inside?

All in all looks very close. Only really the ‘travelling’ part seems it would be too long. Do you know of a version that just has that part shorter by about 4mm?

Thanks heaps for the help, I know this seems really trivial and my hopes aren’t really high for it to actually work, like I said I’m just trying to find a distraction more than anything…

Hi Jacob
Sorry to hear of your personal problems but will leave them at that, personal.
It would appear the dimension of most concern to you would be from the bottom of the switch to the top of the actuator as this would determine how far the switch protrudes through a panel. I don’t you can file anything off as the shape probably allows the button to clip into place.
If you enter “spph” in the search bar on both Element 14 and RS web sited you will get a list of the switches of that series (SPPH) they carry in stock.
You may have to browse all different brands. A bit of a daunting task but using the filters will shorten this up somewhat. I think the “SPPH” may be a style confined to Alps brand so there may be others with similar styles.
Good hunting but these are the best and most comprehensive sources I can think of.
Cheers Bob

Thanks that’s a good idea, I’ll do that. Now that I have the dimensions and know pretty much how it needs to work, hopefully they’ve got a few different variants. Thanks again!
