Can the coverage range be extended ? And can it detect human differently from other primates like gorillas?
Hey there, @Enyuma321609. not really for this specific 24GHz presence module, its practical detection range is specified at about 0.75 m to 6 m, with a roughly ±60° field of view. You can usually tune sensitivity and detection zones within that range, but extending it beyond 6 m would mean using a different radar module.
… No, it’s basically going to detect presence and motion. It’s just that 90% of the time you can presume humans (and when you can’t, you know it). I can’t really imagine there are many situations where you would want or need to distinguish between gorillas and humans electronically, but if you have found yourself with a nightly zookeeping role, I would probably invest in a camera …
