NO Audio from MP4 - Video Looper / Kiosk Kit - MP4Museum

Hi,
I have not used Raspberry Pi before and I bought the
Video Looper / Kiosk Kit for Raspberry Pi

with “MP4Museum “ loaded on the micro SD Card.
Viideo works OK on MP4
Problem is there NO Sound.

Have HDMI connected to HDMI Monitor.
Tried Headphones and Speakers in the Pi Audio Jack – NO JOY
Tried USB 3D Sound Card External – NO JOY

Question? How do I get the sound to play from my MP4 File
Thank you

Update from me.
Connected Rpi HDMI to my HDMI TV ( fitted with internal speakers) got
both Video & Audio OK.

Then retried as above:
Have HDMI connected to HDMI Monitor.
Tried Headphones and Speakers in the Pi Audio Jack – NO JOY
Tried USB 3D Sound Card External – NO JOY

Can someone suggest what speakers OR 4 Ring Speaker Cable I can buy
to give me Audio out of from the Rpi Audio Jack.

Thank you.

Hi John,

I haven’t used MP4Museum, but one of these options should work for you. Keep in mind that the MP4Museum page recommends that you don’t use analog audio because it is lower quality.

You should be able to follow these directions to force your audio to use the 3.5mm jack:

by running “sudo raspi-config” in the terminal you should be able to change the settings there, or you may need to edit your config.txt file.

Hopefully that helps! Let me know if you need more direction.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your helpful info.

When I power on the RPi I get the scrolling screen then after 5 seconds

my MP4 starts playing.

What are the keyboard keys I need to get back to the main RPi Screen?

Thanks

John,

When you have a USB with video files connected to the MP4Museum it will play them automatically on startup. Try removing it when booting up. You may need to edit the config.txt file on your SD card.

Here is some info on your Config.txt file. You should be able to edit it using an SD card reader on a different device:

Changing the Audio Output – Desktop Volume Control

Quote:

“Right-clicking the volume icon on the desktop taskbar brings up the audio output selector; this allows you to select between the internal audio outputs. It also allows you to select any external audio devices, such as USB sound cards and Bluetooth audio devices. A green tick is shown against the currently selected audio output device — simply left-click the desired output in the pop-up menu to change this. The volume control and mute operate on the currently selected device. “
