Raspberry Pi 5 Model B 8GB (CE09786)

Hey Everyone!

It looks like the Pi 5 8GB was sold out in about 15 minutes from when the Email went out this morning.

If you are still looking for the Pi 5 there are a limited number of Barebones kits available still.

We understand the frustration with the Power supplies and accessories, but we are hoping that they will be certified and available sometime later this month or early December. Keep an eye out for them!

Cheers,
Blayden

brilliant - only waited 3 weeks (Pi 5) - and you’re out of stock again the same day I got an email alert… unhappy… might start shopping elsewhere

Hi Daniel,

Sorry you missed out, there were very few of the single boards available and sold out very quickly (first 15 minutes).

We hope to have more soon and if you would like one ASAP I’d check out the barebones kit here: Raspberry Pi 5 8GB - Barebones Kit | Core Electronics Australia

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the forum! The Raspberry Pi 5 is unfortunately not yet available to purchase as just the board on our website.

If your browser is showing it as in stock, it may be holding onto a cache version of the page. Try pressing control + F5 to clear the browser cache.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Sophia

Also adding a unique url param to the end such as ?updated (or if there is already a ?, then an &updated) ought to get a fresh version of the page.

Example: https://example.com/the/rest/of/my/url/here?updated

Or: https://example.com/the/rest/of/my/url/here?my_url_param&updated

Shouldn’t be necessary, but a useful trick to know to ensure you’re not viewing a varnished version of a web-page in general.

What is the difference between the raspberry pi 5 and barebones?

The Pi 5, 8GB Barebones Kit contains a Pi 5, 8GB model along with other essential hardware that satisfy the absolute minimum hardware requirement to

  • power the board
  • boot the OS

with this hardware to can at least create a ‘headless’ raspberry pi (no keyboard, mouse, monitor) and connect to it remotely over eg. WiFi

Why does your picture of the Raspberry Pi 5 Model B not show the B on the motherboard.

Hey Ian,

I’ve got a few sitting on my desk, on all variants of the 5 so far the PCB doesn’t have B listed on the silkscreen as the model number is referring to the dimensions and layout rather than the revision or specs.

A few years back the Pi 3 had both an A and B model, with the A being a smaller square tile and the B being the classic credit-card aspect ratio and size everyone is familiar with, I’ve got a photo of the Pi 3 A and B (well A+ and B+) side by side below for comparison, please let us know if you have any other questions.

P.S. the Pi 4 and 5 haven’t released model A variants, although with enough popularity they may do so again in future, haven’t heard anything about it myself however

Thank you for your quick response. Would you advise your media people that they are advertising an item that is not in existence. Just makes it confusing for us poor plebs.

How long would it take to deliver raspberry pi 5 to Schofields Australia

Hi Sanjay269729,

Depending on the postage option you select at checkout, we would expect between approx. 2 and 5 days for delivery, if your order is submitted by 2pm we can guarantee that it will be posted the same day.

We look forward to hearing about your future projects!

I wasn’t interested in a Pi5 until stocks looked better, and today that looks to be true. I’m still not sure it offers anything I might need, since I primarily use it for Mathematica.
So, I’m wondering if you have an 8GB Pi5 setup with Bookworm (64-bit) and Mathematica 14. If so, would you be willing to run WolframMark for me and feed back the results?
If you don’t know how, try this:

  1. sudo apt install wolfram-engine
  2. Fire up Mathematica from the GUI
  3. Go to Help, then About Mathematica and click System Information.
  4. Scroll down and click Benchmark with WolframMark.
5, On a line, of code hold a Shift key and hit the Enter key.
  5. When it comes up for air, I’d like the number for Benchmark Result.

Thanks, David

Hi David, Welcome back to the Forums!!!

I was able to run the benchmark on our Pi 5 8GB in an Argon One V3 case here in the office.

Results as follows:

Thanks very much!
That’s a big leap in performance, my 8GB Pi4 is 0.38.
I think my first Pi (2B) was about 0.01 several years ago, using a Mathematica version around 9. So both hardware and software have improved over time.
Guess I’ll have save up for another Pi…

I’m sad or I’m reading something wrong.
Do we NO LONGER have a 3.5 mm Analogue Audio output pm the Pi5 ?
If this is the case how to get cheap audio out please?
Suggestions

Hi Colin,

The Pi 5 does unfortunately no longer come with a headphone jack. There is quite a lot of discourse in Raspberry Pi’s forums. Reading through here USB to audio jack’s seem to be the solution.
