Raspberry Pi 5 Model B 8GB (CE09786)

Yeah and they are not expensive for the analogue ones not sure about compatibility. With the Raspberry Pi5 audio driver I guess I’ll check it on a Pi4 and if it works assume it’ll work on a 5

Testing for compatibility on the 4 first is definitely the way to go. Just make sure you’re using the same operating system you intend to use on the Pi 5.

Hi @Troy282151, Welcome to the Forums!!!

Could you provide some more information about whats not working to see how we can assist?

Hi guys, received my raspberry pi5 on Thursday last 21st November 24.
I have only got to it today Saturday 23 rd Nov2024. Plugged my 5 v 3000ma power supply in and nothing. Not a red light as per website YouTube advice. I have an 8 fb Rasberry pi 4 and it works ok but nothing on th pi5. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Jeff,

Welcome to the forum, shoot us an email with some pictures of your setup, and whatever troubleshooting you’ve already done and we’ll have a look. There are a few different things it could be.

Hi Jack,
Sorry to say but I can’t do any photos etc as I am back in hospital for about a week.
I have checked power supply which Isa 5 volt 3000M (3Amp).no lights or splash screen plugged back into pi4 all good. I have watched your review and have added the heat sink fan, but even switch that unplugged no response from pi5. I will be ordering a 5v 5 amp plug pack when I get out of hospital as long as it doesn’t void my warranty.
Appreciate the help in advance

Hi Jeff,

Are you using an official power supply? The Pi 5 uses USB PD. This could be the issue, depending on the cable the Pi won’t be able to understand its receiving power. This hardware lets it monitor its power use through the USB.

The power supply I got from you guys a while ago. But the 5volt side is an oval looking plug and it suits the pi4,
Regards Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Both the Pi 4 and 5 were USB C. The Pi 4’s PSU should work, the Pi will complain because it’s aware it can draw more than the power supply will let it but it will power on. You’ll just get an under-voltage warning on the Pi.

Well Jack I got no lights and no splash screen on mini hdmi to my computer monitor, I’m at a loss. But I will do a movie with phone showing pi4 working and pi5 not working. Sorry to be a pain.
Regards Jeff

Hey @Jeffrey118413,

Don’t worry at all about being a pain, we’re here to help!

As Jack mentioned earlier, it should be working with that power supply. A video would be fantastic if possible.

Once you’ve sent it through, we can proceed with more troubleshooting, or go ahead with the next steps of the RMA process.
