Raspberry Pi3 & Gertboard

Hi

I purchased a raspberry Pi3 Model B v1.2 & a Gertboard Model 21-Oct-2012 last week and I cant work out how to connect the 2. I have a 26 pin ribbon cable which I think is fine for the Gertboard but the Pi3 has a 40 Pin GPIO.How do I connect the both so that I can use Arduino functionality with my Pi3?

Thanks
Michael

Hi Michael,

The Gertboard has been retired for several years. While the 26 pins of older Raspberry Pi Model B boards are compatible with newer 40 pin variants, often there are a few software compatibility glitches introduced by updates. Hopefully that’s not the case although we’re not end users of Gertboard so it might be best to work with the Gertboard developer / community directly in this case.

Above is the original Gertboard website which has all the guides and a contact method for support. All the best with your projects!

Hi Graham,

Thanks for the reply I have also been told that I can use the board and a ribbon cable as long as I place it on the pins furthest away from the USB, Ethernet port. Does that sound OK or should I just abandon the idea of using the gertboard?

Thanks
Michael

Hi Michael,

I’m not entirely sure what you mean sorry, although it might be worth running the question by the official Gertboard community:
