Read moreFor Rd-03D. I am looking to house this outside. Firstly, do you have containers suitable? Can the waves go through glass or does it nothing in front of sensors? Thanks
Do you have any housing for the Rd-03D that is suitable outside?
Hi @Paul297164,
Welcome to the forum!
The Rd-03D mmWave Multi-Human Position Sensor | Buy in Australia | CE10172 | Core Electronics will be able to penetrate anything that isn’t conductive so glass will be no issue.
For an outdoor housing we stock Plastic Project Box Enclosure Waterproof Clear Cover - 168 x 120 x 55 mm | Buy in Australia | FIT0723 | DFRobot | Core Electronics that will be able to have the signal penerate the cover as well as keeping it dry.
Is this Rd-03D the same as HLK-LD2450 ?
If so, it is supported by Home Assistant via ESPHome
If not, you might like to see if there is any information on connecting, programming and using it - because the linked datasheet looked to be all about the hardware specs.
Hey @Donald23173,
I had a look at the LD2450, and it looks pretty darn similar. From the board layout, to how it operates. I had a brief look at the UART output format and from what I can remeber, it appears to be the same or very similar.
I guess that it could be a drop-in replacement, but it would need to be tested so I can’t say with 100% certainty. The deep dive into the UART format is not in our write-up, but you can find some in this guide.
If you do get it to work, let us know! Curious if it will!
