Sim7600gh hat setup

Hi All,
I am new to all this.
Recently bought a Sim7600gh hat for pi.
I have some questions.
Is there a manual available.
Can I use a standard prepaid sim card purchased from say Coles?
Wanting to set up SMS (push notifications type stuff) for a security system.
Can any one help with the code ect.
Fairly new to Raspberry Pi and coding but i have managed to setup a NAS and PiHole on my Pi4 using youtube (just by copying code and following instruction).
It’s a bit of a buss when you finally get it all to work.

Thank you.

Lincoln.

Hi Lincoln,

Welcome to the forum!!

  1. There certainly is, i’ve just updated the product page to include the Wiki/Manual, you can also find it here: SIM7600G-H 4G HAT (B) - Waveshare Wiki

  2. The Sim question is a bit tricky, you’ll have to make sure the bands that your carrier uses match the SIM7600G-H, the bands can be found here on the product page:

  3. There are lots of examples around on the internet where someone has setup something similar, I’d definitely recommend checking out some other projects using an LTE module of some sort + the Wiki page

Let us know how you go!
Liam

Thanks Liam for the feedback and direction.
I don’t get a lot of time for all this and it is a bit start and stop, pick up latter.
Same as may others I suppose.
Will come back after researching.

Hi Lincoln,

Just to add to Liam’s response, Whirlpool has a good summary of all the different bands used here in AU and their corresponding carriers:

Give it a squiz when it comes time to pick up a SIM

Thanks James.
That is very helpful. The 3 main telcos all use some of the 7600 frequencies/bandwidths so is looking good.
