Waveshare 4g SIM hat / Dual gigabit board for raspberry pi / openwrt

I tried to keep the title as short as possible,
I’m looking for a dual gigabit board for the cm4 (can’t find any for the actual pi 4b), that’ll allow me to add the waveshare 4g LTE SIM hat (which I have up and running with openwrt).

I’d like to add a second gigabit port for a second switch for openwrt.

Yes, I know you can add a switch to an existing switch, but from a what I read as a general rule you should only have one switch per Ethernet cable (connected to modem router).

I found a few available on your site, this first one would be my first choice as I think it’ll be asker to add the 4g hat (may be wrong), but it requires a cm5… is the cm5 available yet?

This one uses the cm4, and I can’t see how I’d fit the waveshare hat on there, I’d have to use a right angle gpio extender to bring it up and out of the case, and also I don’t need all the extra ram, emc, I’d halve that if possible.

I only need 1gb ram for openwrt, and bare minimum eMMC storage.

Are the 1gb light cm4 no longer available?
What is the “lightest” (bare minimum ram and eMMC) cm4 board available (even if I need to place back order)?

Thx guys

Hey @Robert164578,

Seems like an interesting project! To answers as many of your questions as I can:

  • We don’t have to compute module 5 yet but it is definitely on the way so keep an eye out for it!
  • The lowest spec cm4 we currently have available is the cm4 2GB model. While more lightweight models do exist, we haven’t had them in stock for a while and I am unable to predict when we will see them again.
  • I’m not sure if we have an exact product that fits these specifications. Have you considered a cluster board as an alternative solution? Maybe something like the Turing Pi 2.5 would work for you.’

Hope this helps!

My bad, that pi5 all in one case is for the pi5, not cm5, so this looks like my best option. Cheaper too!
