Coin acceptor to iPAC usb encoder

Hi guys,

I’m looking for a coin acceptor that can send a 5v “pulse” to another usb device.

Specifically if this coin acceptor:

Is it compatible with this encoder:

Various forums online have pointed to success with some custom 12v - 5v step down circuitry… but I am looking for a coin acceptor that sends a 5v pulse natively.

Its hard to tell from the documentation what the deal is here… as the description on this page seems to indicate it would be OK but… I’m not sure wit the diagram.

Any advice is welcome.

THANKS!

Hi Kym,

Welcome to the forum :slightly_smiling_face:

The documentation for this product is a bit tricky to parse as it can operate in a few different modes.
I think that coin acceptor only has either serial or parallel data output modes.

The video by Sparkfun is probably the best explanation of house it should be used.

I don’t think you will be able to just get a single 5V pulse when it reaches the target threshold. I think section 4.4 Counter Output is describing an active low data pulse.
