Creality LD-002R LCD not working

Hi, I recently purchased a replacement LCD for my Creality LD-002R printer as the original LCD had developed several dead pixels. I installed it exactly as shown in the tutorial video from creality for swapping a LCD. however when I powered it up to do the calibration the pattern did not display. I have checked the connection and inspected the main board for any debris that may be shorting something and there is nothing apparent. I am at a bit of a loss as to what the issue is. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jonathan, Welcome to the forum!

Pretty much the only thing I can see going wrong with a replacement job like this is that connection to the LCD:

Here’s a photo of a replacement I’ve done before, showing how the MIPI connector seats on the board.

Could you very gently peel off the black tape covering the MIPI connector to give us a look of how well your connector is seated?

You should have felt a gentle click when pressing the connector into its receptacle, perhaps a second when gently pressing along the whole length of the connector to make sure all of it is seated correctly.

Keen to get to the bottom of this one!

Hi James,

I have pealed off the black tape, picture below. I have pressed on the connector and it feels firmly seated.

Hi James, just follow up on this to see what your thoughts on my previous comment and picture. I am suspecting that the LCD may have been dead on arrival, as like you said, there isn’t much that can go wrong.

Hi Jonathan,

While it definitely could be DOA it would be good to confirm before jumping into shipping any parts around (there are lots of delays at the moment and we want to make sure you can keep going with your projects!).

To rule out the connection itself I’d try reinstalling the original screen and see if the calibration rectangle appears even slightly - then reinstall the replacement screen and if it fails to display reseat the connection a couple times (those ribbon connectors can be very fiddly).

Let us know how you go! Once we have a better idea as to whats happening we can make a call.
Liam.

Hi Liam,

Unfortunately the old screen was completely destroyed during removal and went in the bin several days ago. I have tried reseating the connector a few times and the most I can get out of it is a flicker of the calibration rectangle on the RHS.

Hi Jonathan,

Very sorry about the delay in getting back to you.

The flikcering sounds like it might be a connector issue, either it isnt making good contact or there is some debris on the ribbon cable.

If you dont have any luck with that please reply to your order confirmation email and we’ll get this one sorted out!
Liam.
