GSM Module Messaging with Pi 4B

I plan to buy this hat for my Raspberry Pi 4: GSM Module. However, I have never embarked on a project requiring SMS and SIM cards, with the aim of my project being the pi able to message my phone. How do I setup this HAT for my pi 4B to do this?

Hey @Devansh256408,

The Waveshare Wiki for that product has loads of good info on setting up this device.

Under all the technical and debugging information, there’s a section titled: “Connect to Raspberry Pi” that details the process fairly well.

We also have this guide for the Waveshare 4G HAT that may prove useful, though some things will be different due to the difference in boards.

If you run into any trouble, let us know!

Hey @Zach,

I purchased the GSM module and tried to follow the HAT’s Wavehsare Wiki but in the Raspberry Pi setup description, it tells me to download the R800C_GSM_GPRS_HAT_Code.zip but then the following steps talk about pi_gpio_init.sh, which isn’t in that zip folder. What should I do?

I think you can check this thread.

Hey @Devansh256408,

Sorry, we never got back to you on this, for some reason it slipped through the cracks of our forum handling system.

Did you get this working? If not, can you send the error you get when trying to execute the following command?
